Each summer, this event brings performances to eighteen parks throughout the five boroughs of the city. Various types of music are featured while dance, spoken word and theater performances are also held.
Don’t miss your chance to see completely free performances of some of William Shakespeare’s best work right in Central Park. Included in the 2013 season will be “The Comedy of Errors” and “Love’s Labour’s Lost, a New Musical.”
Head to Bryant Park around sunset to view free screenings of classic movies on Monday nights throughout the summer. Pack a blanket and some snacks to enjoy the movie along with around 10,000 other attendees per screening.
Massive crowds will descend upon Manhattan for this annual event celebrating Puerto Rican culture in NYC. As one of the biggest parades in the city, spectators can expect colorful floats, dancers and celebrity appearances at the parade.
Visitors to this festival get the unique opportunity to visit some of New York City’s finest museums for free during this annual event. Participating musems include El Museo Del Barrio, the Guggenheim Museum and the Met.
